SOLIDARITY WITH THE PEOPLE OF VENEZUELA!

US imperialist piracy in the Caribbean!

In a state terrorist act, the US imperialists bombed the Venezuelan capital Caracas and other cities in the night of 3 January. Many Venezuelans were killed or injured in this attack. The elected Chavista president Nicolás Maduro and his wife were kidnapped by US special forces and taken to the US.

The fascist US President Trump and his cheerleaders, the Secretary of Defence and the Foreign Secretary, as well as the responsible general of the US Army, celebrated this act of piracy against the Venezuelan people as a great victory for America against ‘drug gangs’ and for ‘freedom and democracy’ in Venezuela at a press conference.

That is a big lie. This imperialist act by US imperialism is neither about combating drug crime nor about fighting for freedom and democracy.

It is nothing more than a flimsy pretext, which has been trumpeted around the world for months to justify US intervention in Venezuela in order to force regime change. The Chavista regime has long been a thorn in the side of the US imperialists. During Hugo Chávez’s reign, the oil industry in the country was completely nationalised. This nationalisation in the country with the world’s largest oil reserves hit US oil companies particularly hard, which lost their fat profits as a result. The US has been trying to overthrow the Chavist regime ever since.

Since then, the Chavista leadership in Venezuela, which has also developed good relations with China and Russia, does not accept the US embargo against Cuba

in Latin America, and has verbally opposed Yankee imperialism, has been an

enemy of the US that must be overthrown. The US has tried everything short of direct military intervention against Venezuela, including economic embargoes, CIA operations and support for the anti-Chávez opposition, in order to get rid of this regime.

When all else failed, the US imperialists meticulously planned and carried out the current military operation. First, Venezuela was defamed as a centre of drug trafficking. The Venezuelan leadership was declared a drug gang and narco terrorists.

Venezuelan President Maduro was declared the head of the narco-terrorist organisation poisoning American youth. A bounty of 50 million US dollars was placed on his head. organisation poisoning American youth. A bounty of 50 million US dollars was placed on his head. In recent months, Venezuela has been militarily

encircled by sea and air. Several Venezuelan fishing boats were sunk, and around a hundred people on these boats were extrajudicially executed in international waters

in acts of piracy. In order to give the US-aligned Venezuelan opposition a boost, the Nobel Peace Prize was even organised for its figurehead, Machado, who had called on the US to intervene militarily in Venezuela.

Thus, the operation was prepared well in advance on 3 January.

We communists are not in favour of the Chavist, national bourgeois regime that

calls itself socialist, but which has used fascist methods against the opposition. At the same time, however, we are against any imperialist aggression and intervention against Venezuela.

We condemn the imperialist piracy of US imperialism. The fascist Trump declared in his press conference that the US is now in Venezuela and will „lead the country until we can ensure a safe and orderly transition.“ That is, until the lackeys of US imperialism take power. He went on to say: „We will take back what belongs to us“; this refers to reclaiming Venezuela’s oil for US oil companies. And it refers to bringing Venezuela, which has drifted towards Russia and China, back into the ‘Western Hemisphere’. This act of piracy by US imperialism is part of a long tradition of military coups and interventions that it has been perpetrating for decades against the peoples of Latin America.

Today, this is yet another preparation by the imperialist powers in their struggle for the redivision of the world. Another step in the preparation for World War III!

The reaction of the Western allies of the United States, especially German imperialism, consists largely of discreet silence or cautious justification of the US aggression.

Take to the streets

against the aggression of US imperialism in Venezuela!

Against piracy in the Caribbean!

Down with imperialism!
