2026: The imperialists are arming themselves for World War III!
Never before in history have global military expenditures been as high as in 2024, reaching 2.7 quadrillion dollars! And the trend is rising! The military is not there for show or for military exercises, but for bloody war! War for the redivision of the world among the imperialist great powers! And, of course, German imperialism is eagerly participating in the front ranks. Never since the end of the Second World War has Germany’s military spending been as high as it is in 2024, at 88.5 billion dollars!
This means that, for the first time in its history, ‘united’ Germany has become the biggest arms manufacturer in Europe in terms of military spending, ranking fourth worldwide after the USA, China and Russia. All social spending by the state is being radically cut. However, there is no upper limit on military spending!
The German bourgeoisie is militarising and fascistising society. It wants to become ‘fit for war’ by 2029 and expand the Bundeswehr into ‘the strongest conventional army in Europe’!
Why? Certainly not ‘for sport,’ as the satirical song about Germany’s rearmament in the 1930s claimed. (“Gaslied” by ‘Rote Raketen,’ an agitprop troupe of the KPD) At that time, the German bourgeoisie was already actively preparing for war. The Nazis were the shock troops of the German bourgeoisie. Under the political leadership of the Nazis, the German bourgeoisie ignited the Second World War, which reached its turning point for them at the gates of Stalingrad. Today, like all other imperialist powers, it is preparing for war again, for the Third World War!
The Third World War would bring much more suffering to the proletarians of all countries and the oppressed peoples than the two previous ones. It is the duty of all proletarians and oppressed peoples to stand up against this danger.
In memory of Karl and Rosa, the communists murdered in 1919, we can still learn a lot today from their struggle against imperialism and war!
They recognised and clearly stated it… The main enemy is in our own country! The struggle for peace must be waged as a struggle to smash the capitalist system, with the aim of achieving a socialist society. For a victorious struggle, we need a Communist Party. Rosa and Karl fought against war with the slogans ‘War on imperialist war!’ and ‘Socialism or death in barbarism!’
107 years after the assassination of Rosa and Karl, we commemorate these two outstanding internationalists and pioneers of the proletarian revolution. Not as historical figures from a bygone era. No, as our comrades who continue to influence our struggles and give us strength and courage.
Following the path laid out by Rosa and Karl, we fight for the working class to seize power and for socialism!
For a communist future without oppression and exploitation!

In this new edition of Trotz Alledem’s ‘What’s going on in the world?’, we present the first part of our analysis of economic and political developments over the last five years (2020-2025). The focus is on international developments in the imperialist world.
The growing threat of global war, shifts and upheavals in economic developments and in political and state power relations are central themes.
The attempts by the bourgeoisie and capital ‘of all countries’ to shift the burden of the crisis ever more massively onto the working class are meeting with far too little resistance.
The political division within the working class and among the working people along lines of racism, fascism, chauvinism and nationalism is being intensified more and more by those in power. We expose the underlying ideological battle lines of the bourgeois ruling apparatus.
We try to show ways in which this ailing system can be countered with a different, communist perspective.
In the next issue of TA 97, ‘What’s going on in Germany?’, we will go into detail about the decisive political developments in the second part of our analysis.
